The Burj Khalifa is the worlds tallest building standing at 2,722 feet tall. That is about 185 times taller than your average American home. Buildings of this stature are different from our homes in many ways, a key way is instead of being built to fight against the elements that they face, they are built with the intention of survival and even thriving within them. This requires a stark difference in the construction of these different building types from the beginning. Your home likely sits on a concrete foundation that is eight to 10 inches deep. This is enough to withstand most things your home might face. The Burj Khalifa stands on a foundation that is 1,968 inches (164 feet) deep. That is 198 times deeper than the foundation of your home. Why, because in order for us to build something monumental, the foundation must be secure.

In Ephesians 5: 21–32 we read the Apostle Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus. Paul is laying out instructions for believers in their attempts to live together in Christian Community. Here the Apostle turns his attention to married couples. I believe it is important to begin this discussion by saying it is not God’s will that everyone is married. If you are single and reading this today don’t jump to the obituaries just yet. I do believe that our dating relationships and our understanding of romantic relationships should be housed within the container of Godly marriage.
